Jonathan A. Carnes
Managing Partner

Jonathan is an attorney licensed to practice in Massachusetts and North Carolina. He received a BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He graduated from Suffolk University Law School with honors in 2012. As an entrepreneur, he has successfully formed and operated three law practices, first in Boston, Massachusetts, and now Raleigh, North Carolina.  Jonathan strives to provide a balance between affordable access to the law and providing personalized, innovative, and effective business and legal representation to each and every client.

Tara D. Warwick
Managing Partner

​​Tara is a patent attorney licensed to practice in North Carolina and before the USPTO. She received a BSc in Biotechnology with a minor in Biochemistry from Calvin College. Tara received a JD from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, served on multiple national competition teams, and received the Thomas M. Cooley Leadership Achievement award.Tara brings management and entrepreneurial experience to her background in science, offering a practical and multifaceted approach to the practice and understanding of law.

Joseph R. John Jr.
Associate Attorney

​​Joe is an attorney licensed to practice in North Carolina. He holds a B.S. from Guilford College, a Master’s in Public Affairs from Western Carolina University and a JD from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Previously, Joe worked at the North Carolina General Assembly where he aided his father, Representative Joe John Sr., and at the North Carolina Department of Justice where he served as an Assistant Attorney General.  Joe also has a background in baseball as a player, coach, and business owner.  Since 2011, he has helped guide over 200 players in pursuing their dream to play baseball at either the college or professional level.  Joe brings a personalized and professional approach in representing each client.  Joe resides in Wake Forest, NC with his wife Julie and five children, Aden, Ella, Remy, Dagny and Samantha. 

Nicole Johnson
Legal Assistant

​​Nicole joined the CarnesWarwick team as a legal assistant in May 2018. She works with CarnesWarwick’s attorneys to provide superior service to our clients. After graduating from high school in Raleigh, NC, Nicole attended New York University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Social and Public Policy. Nicole plans to attend law school and pursue a legal career in the future.
